A shallow carbide cross bit is a type of rock drilling bit featuring a low-profile, cross-shaped cutting structure with tungsten carbide inserts. It is specifically designed for soft to medium-hard rock formations, where faster penetration rates and reduced resistance are required.
- Design: The shallow cross design has a lower-profile cutting face which reduces resistance, allowing for higher drilling speeds with optimized carbide tip angles that improve cutting efficiency while maintaining hole straightness. The bit has air or water-flushing holes remove debris, preventing clogging and reducing overheating.
